Terms of Service

These terms apply to your use of the Gumbo desktop app and its online services, including the AI assistant, sign-in and video sharing. By using Gumbo, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use Gumbo.

Using Gumbo

You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to agree to these terms where you live. You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your computer and email account secure.

Your content

You keep all rights to the media you bring into Gumbo and the videos you make with it. You give us permission to process your content only as needed to run the features you use: for example, sending frames and text to AI providers when you ask the assistant for help, and hosting a video when you share it. You are responsible for having the rights to the media you use and share.

AI output

The assistant's edits and suggestions are generated automatically and can be wrong, incomplete or unexpected. Review your video before you publish or rely on it. Media found through Gumbo's search comes from third-party libraries under their own licenses, such as Creative Commons. You are responsible for following those licenses, including giving credit where they require it.

Acceptable use

Do not use Gumbo to:

• break the law or infringe anyone's rights, including copyright and privacy;
• create or share sexual content involving minors, content that harasses or threatens people, or deceptive content meant to impersonate a real person;
• get around usage limits, share accounts to avoid them, or interfere with the service or other users;
• reverse engineer Gumbo's servers or use them to build a competing service.

We may limit, suspend or close accounts that break these rules, and remove shared videos that do.

Usage limits and changes

AI features have usage limits, which we may change. Gumbo is in active development, so features may change, pause or end. We will try to give notice of significant changes.

Third-party services

Gumbo relies on services such as Supabase, AI providers and media libraries, as described in the Privacy Policy. Their availability is outside our control.

Disclaimer

Gumbo is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or that it will not lose data. Keep backups of media and projects that matter to you.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, profits or content, arising from your use of Gumbo. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for Gumbo in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50 if you paid nothing. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Ending use

You can stop using Gumbo at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing yuanchengli612@gmail.com. Sections that by their nature should continue, such as the disclaimer and limitation of liability, continue after your use ends.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app. Continuing to use Gumbo after a change means you accept the new terms.
